About The Department The Finance team is an international group of financial professionals dedicated to supporting our global business, protecting company assets, and providing strategic analysis, budgeting, and reporting to support the company’s objectives. The team plays a critical role to ensure the company’s long‑term financial health and sustainability by managing resources, optimizing financial performance, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing strategic insights to support decision‑making across international operations.
About the Role The FP&A Senior Analyst will play a critical role in monitoring and analyzing financial performance across international locations, identifying cost‑saving opportunities, providing robust budgeting & forecasting support, and ensuring compliance with local regulations, all while considering global economic factors and reporting to senior management on the overall financial health of the international operations. During your first year, Backroads will be implementing new FP&A systems to support and enhance our service level to our internal business partners. You’ll have the opportunity to help build the FP&A function at Backroads!
What You’ll Be Doing
Budgeting and Forecasting
– Collaborate with business owners to develop, scrutinize and maintain accurate line‑item budgets, using market trends and historical data to forecast global budget needs.
Financial Analysis and Business Reviews
– Conduct variance analysis, explain deviations to managers, prepare detailed reports and presentations for senior management, and assist managers in interpreting financial data.
Cost Management
– Identify and implement cost‑reduction strategies across global operations, analyze spending patterns, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams on cost control.
Systems & Reporting
– Participate in implementation of new FP&A tools, develop and maintain standardized reporting systems, prepare accurate financial reports for stakeholders, and develop clear, effective communications about financial performance.
What You’ll Need to Be Successful
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and high quality of work.
Financial expertise: accounting principles, budgeting techniques, and financial analysis methods.
Effective communication across diverse stakeholders worldwide.
Global perspective and experience with international budgeting and forecasting.
Proficiency in Excel, NetSuite, ERP systems, Power BI, and other financial software.
Strong work ethic, adaptability, and ability to influence senior management.
Minimum 5+ years in FP&A, preferably in international operations.
Work Environment
Location: Berkeley, CA
Office days: 4 days in the office, 1 day work‑from‑home (Wednesday).
Visas: We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time.
