Lead Mid-Level Provider - Gilliam Youth Services Center - Denver
Full‑time position. 24/7 facility, shift work.
Overview Provide comprehensive primary health care to detained, pre‑trial, and committed youth, including physical, psychiatric, and dental maintenance. Serve as facility Responsible Health Authority and lead medical liaison.
Responsibilities
Deliver primary care, perform physical exams, order labs, interpret results, formulate treatment plans.
Conduct health screens, appraisals, and record SOAP notes.
Supervise, train, and evaluate medical clinic staff including nurses, PAs, and interns.
Coordinate medical, dental, and mental health care with internal and external providers.
Oversee pharmacy orders, prior authorizations, and medication safety.
Act as first‑level resource for case complexity and oversee emergency medical situations.
Collaborate with Medical Director, psychiatrists, psychologists, and other specialists.
Maintain electronic medical records and comply with reporting requirements.
Participate in committees: facility management, medical leadership, mental health, EHR, safety, etc.
Clinical Management Serve as facility Responsible Health Authority. Review and approve health care plans, monitor communicable diseases, and report to CDC/State Health Department as required.
Supervision of Staff
Observe staff practice, review documentation, provide performance feedback.
Manage hiring, discipline, and training of new staff.
Schedule staff based on clinic needs and facility demands.
Ensure safe medication administration and maintain accurate timekeeping.
Data and Reporting
Collect and submit monthly behavioral health and medical statistics.
Review policies, collaborate on procedural revisions, and maintain medical logs.
Clinical Duties
Perform physical exams, order and interpret diagnostics, form treatment plans.
Provide health education and training to youth and staff.
Communicate health information to staff, supervisors, and administration.
Minimum Qualifications
Current, valid licensure as an Advanced Practice Nurse (Colorado Board of Nursing) or Physician Assistant (Colorado Medical Board).
Prescriptive authority – RXN status (DORA).
Preferred Qualifications
At least 2 years of prescriptive authority in Colorado.
Experience in adolescent health care.
Assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic illness.
Proficiency in electronic medical record documentation.
Prior experience as a Colorado state employee.
Work Schedule Sunday–Saturday flexible shifts; possible weekends; hours determined during interview.
Conditions of Employment
Background checks: CDHS, CBI, fingerprint, ICON, Medicare fraud, reference checks, license verification, drug screen, PREA, Trails, CAPS etc.
Must obtain Colorado APRN or PA license within 1 year.
Must possess valid U.S. driver’s license.
Minimum age 21.
Complete DYS Pre‑service Training Academy, Field Training Program, and mandatory annual training.
Pass sexual risk screening and other integrity screens.
