Job Description Become a Principal Engineer in OCI’s Kubernetes Team – Where Principal Talent Shapes the Cloud! At Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), we blend the flexibility and agility of cloud with the performance, security, and control required by the world’s most demanding enterprises. Our Oracle Kubernetes Engine (OKE) empowers organizations to run everything from critical workloads to microservices on a unified platform, managed at global scale 24/7, every day.

As a Principal Engineer (IC4), you’ll independently drive design and implementation of complex new features, influence system architecture and operational excellence, and shape organizational learning through mentorship, technical leadership, and hands‑on engineering. Your work will directly impact the reliability and efficiency of our services and help define the platform’s technical future.

Why Join Us?

Architect the Future: Deliver robust, scalable, and innovative features for a world‑class managed Kubernetes platform.

Visible Impact: See your designs come to life in production, serving global customers and driving our platform’s reliability and growth.

Technical Challenge: Own and solve deep problems in distributed systems, Kubernetes, automation, and cloud‑native infrastructure.

Team Leadership: Mentor, influence, and collaborate with talented engineers – scaling not only our systems but our organizational expertise.

Who You Are

Able to independently deliver large, complex features: designing, building, operating, and scaling systems with minimal oversight.

Skilled at building high‑quality code, dependable automation, and resilient architectures.

Proactive about collaborating across organizational boundaries (dev, ops, product, security) to solve holistic platform challenges.

Passionate about mentorship, technical leadership, and empowering teammates.

Responsibilities

Architect, design, and deliver new features and systems for OKE and Kubernetes on OCI, focusing on reliability, performance, and operational excellence.

Independently own critical components, major projects, and automation initiatives – setting engineering best practices for others to follow.

Collaborate cross‑functionally – work closely with peer engineering teams, operations, and external partners to design, build, and operate robust, scalable solutions.

Debug, analyze, and optimize services across the stack, reducing operational toil, addressing complex issues, and improving customer experience.

Mentor and guide other engineers – raising the technical bar through design reviews, documentation, and sharing operational knowledge.

Contribute to architectural direction and help set engineering standards for the team and beyond.

Champion continuous improvement in automation, observability, build/deploy pipelines, and operational maturity.

Disclaimer Certain U.S. customer or client‑facing roles may be required to comply with applicable requirements, such as immunization and occupational health mandates.
