Campus Dining Cook and Server (3.5 hours)
Under the supervision of the Food Services Director or designee, the Campus Dining Cook and Server prepares a wide variety of foods, does general kitchen/cafeteria work, and performs other related duties as required.
Compensation
$26.37 - $33.22 hourly (SEIU Range 2)
193 day calendar
3.5 hours per day, 5 days per week
Responsibilities
Complete inventory, production/transport records, cash accounting records, and product orders.
Stock serving areas and keep records of the amount of food sold each day.
Assist in supervision of student helpers.
Order supplies needed.
Act as a cashier.
Accept and put away deliveries.
Clean tables, counters, steam tables, wash dishes, ovens and other equipment.
Prepare and cook a variety of foods such as salads, sandwiches, baked goods, spaghetti, pizza, vegetables, and main courses using standardized recipes that meet the mandated nutrition requirements.
Operate a variety of kitchen equipment, appliances and utensils in a safe manner.
Estimate quantities needed with minimizing waste and select, measure and prepare ingredients for cooking and baking.
Verify expiration date on foods.
Operate and help in preparing special setups.
Transport food on campus.
Assure proper temperature of food complies with safety and sanitation regulations.
Assist with menu development.
Attend staff and professional development meetings as assigned.
Perform all other related duties assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
Large quantity food preparation and care; use of standard cafeteria equipment.
Kitchen safety and sanitation precautions.
Knowledge, experience and skill in preparing and serving quantity meals in accordance with state, local and federal regulations.
Proper handling of money.
Proper handling of food products.
Basic math skills.
Basic record keeping and techniques.
Proper lifting techniques.
District policies, rules and regulations.
Ability To
Independently perform assigned cafeteria duties, do arithmetic computations and maintain inventory and other records.
Pass Food Safety Certification required by the Health Department.
Must possess a current T.B. verification within the last 4 years.
Conduct cashier operations with speed and accuracy.
Carry out oral and written instructions.
Work around and with high school students.
Serve students and staff according to established procedures.
Follow standardized recipes.
Operate basic kitchen equipment, appliances, and utensils in a safe and efficient manner.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationship with others.
Add, subtract, multiply, and divide quickly and accurately.
Education And Experience
Experience in food services preferred.
Working Conditions
Lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds (50 pound by two employees).
Pulling and pushing carts on a daily basis.
Standing and walking for extended period of time.
Verbally, auditory, and written capabilities to effectively communicate with students, food service coworkers, supervisor and other staff.
