Project Management Specialist – Detroit, MI
THIS IS AN ON SITE POSITION IN DETROIT, MICHIGAN YOU MUST BE ABLE TO COMMUTE M-F.
Job Summary The Project Management Specialist is responsible for managing projects from initiation through completion in the Environmental Waste and Recycling Industry. This role involves planning, coordinating resources, managing budgets, and communicating with stakeholders to ensure projects are completed successfully. The specialist works closely with cross‑functional teams and ensures that project goals align with organizational objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and timelines.
Identify resources (personnel, budget, tools) required for project success.
Coordinate with stakeholders to gather and clarify project requirements.
Establish project milestones and performance metrics.
Utilize cross‑functional teams to ensure effective collaboration and communication.
Monitor project progress and adjust plans as needed.
Ensure the project stays on schedule and within budget.
Communicate project status and updates to senior management and stakeholders.
Ensure all deliverables meet quality standards and stakeholder expectations.
Conduct regular project reviews and audits.
Implement project improvement processes where necessary.
Budget and Resource Management: manage project budgets, track expenses, and provide financial reports.
Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, keeping them informed on progress, risks, and issues.
Facilitate communication between different teams and departments.
Provide status reports and ensure transparency throughout the project lifecycle.
Identify, assess, and mitigate risks that could impact project success.
Develop risk management plans and ensure their implementation.
Address any issues that arise during the project, escalating when necessary.
Maintain detailed project documentation, including plans, progress reports, and post‑project reviews.
Provide final project reports, including lessons learned and recommendations for future projects.
Conduct post‑project assessments to evaluate project success.
Collect feedback from team members and stakeholders.
Identify areas of improvement for future projects and update best practices accordingly.
Qualifications and Education
Required: A bachelor’s degree in project management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in project management, with a proven track record of managing complex projects.
Experience with project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Asana, Trello, Jira) is highly desired.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and handle changing priorities.
Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
Proficiency in project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, etc.).
Attention to detail and a proactive approach to risk management.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Preferred: Certification in Project Management.
