Position Summary
The Infrastructure Manager is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the health, security, and performance of the organization’s on-premises network and server infrastructure, with a limited but growing cloud footprint. This position blends strategic IT management with technical execution to ensure operational stability, scalability, and security. The Infrastructure Manager provides day-to-day leadership to the IT team, fosters a culture aligned with the company’s mission and values, and partners cross-functionally with technology leadership, compliance, and operations teams to deliver reliable, high-performing infrastructure services. This position reports to the VP of Technology and is based in Mount Arlington, New Jersey. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy Partner with senior management to develop and execute the organization’s IT and infrastructure strategy. Lead and mentor a team of IT professionals, including employees and contractors, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Collaborate with peer managers to align priorities, allocate resources effectively, and ensure successful delivery of technology initiatives. Set clear goals, conduct regular team meetings, one-on-ones, and support career development and performance growth. Infrastructure & Operations Oversee daily operations of network, server, and cloud infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, and security. Establish and maintain IT standards, policies, and procedures to ensure system consistency, reliability, and scalability. Conduct capacity planning, system monitoring, and disaster recovery preparedness. Manage vendor relationships, contracts, and service-level agreements in coordination with the VP of Technology and Finance to support infrastructure objectives. Serve as a hands-on escalation point for complex infrastructure and IT support issues. Security, Compliance & Governance Ensure data protection, network security, and system integrity through adherence to best practices and modern security frameworks. Oversee backup, antivirus, and endpoint protection systems across all environments. Collaborate with Information Security and Compliance teams to support ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST CSF and other security and quality frameworks. Participate in audits, asset reviews, and risk assessments. Ensure alignment with company policies and regulatory standards for access control, data handling, and incident response. Technology Projects & Continuous Improvement Lead or support IT-related projects, including infrastructure upgrades, cloud strategy, virtualization, and network enhancements. Research and evaluate emerging technologies to improve reliability, scalability, and user experience. Recommend and implement process improvements to optimize performance and efficiency. Stay current on evolving technologies, cybersecurity trends, and best practices in IT operations. Requirements
Education/Certification Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Microsoft, Cisco, or VMware) preferred. Job Qualifications Expertise in designing, securing, and maintaining hybrid environments (primarily on-premises with some cloud components). Strong knowledge of network protocols, routing, and security fundamentals (BGP, DNS, IP subnetting, firewalls, VPN). Proficiency with IT Service Management (ITSM) tools, ITIL frameworks, network monitoring platforms, and cybersecurity solutions. Demonstrated leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to balance technical depth and business priorities. Highly organized with strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Maintains professionalism, confidentiality, and composure under pressure. Preferred Skills Familiarity with AI-driven IT operations (AIOps), automation, and endpoint management tools preferred Technology / Software Knowledge Infrastructure: VMware vSphere/ESXi, Windows Server (2012, 2016, 2019), Linux OS, Active Directory (on-prem and Azure AD), limited Azure Cloud footprint. Security: DUO (MFA), Okta (SSO/IdP), Fortinet FortiGate (firewall/VPN/SD-WAN), Sophos Central (endpoint protection/DLP), Rubrik Backup & Recovery, Cisco Umbrella (DNS security), BeyondTrust (Privileged Access Management). Networking: Aruba switching/routing, BGP, DNS, VLANs, traffic flow troubleshooting, and Wi-Fi systems. Collaboration & Systems: Microsoft 365 (Exchange, Teams, SharePoint), Zoom, and VoIP systems. Monitoring & Tools: SolarWinds, Stellar Cyber (SIEM), network performance monitoring, ticketing systems (e.g., ADO or similar), and endpoint protection management. Additional Experience (preferred): Oracle databases, Elastic Stack, Redis Cache, GoAnywhere MFT, multifactor authentication platforms, and experience integrating with data center providers (e.g., Cologix). Years’ Experience 4-7 years of experience managing and supporting network and server infrastructure. 3+ years of experience leading technical teams, with a proven ability to mentor, coach, and drive accountability. 2+ years of experience managing IT or infrastructure projects from planning through delivery.
