Investment Officer, Diversifying Strategies (Investment Officer 3) Oregon State Treasury is recruiting for the position of Investment Officer 3, Diversifying Strategies to join the recently established Diversifying Strategies team. The primary purpose of this position is to support the day-to-day investment and administrative activities of the Diversifying Strategies Portfolios, and to share the ongoing oversight of various investments with the Senior Investment Officer, Diversifying Strategies.

The role of the Diversifying Strategies Portfolio is to enhance long-term return and diversification for the Funds managed by Oregon State Treasury through alpha generation and risk mitigation. The Diversifying Strategies team is responsible for the continual optimization of the Diversifying Strategies Portfolios. Team responsibilities include regular monitoring of existing investments, sourcing and due diligence of new potential investments, and ongoing analysis of performance, positioning, and risk.

Job Duties Summary

Conducts independent evaluation of investment proposals submitted for possible portfolio inclusion.

Screens prospective investments and works with the Senior Investment Officer, Diversifying Strategies on favorable recommendations for further evaluation.

Works independently and as guided to perform industry and portfolio analysis and conduct research projects in support of the Diversifying Strategies Portfolios.

Manages relationships with existing general partners with which the Funds have invested.

Works in conjunction with the Senior Investment Officer, Diversifying Strategies to monitor and coordinate the activities of the advisory firms retained to monitor and report on the Diversifying Strategies Portfolios.

Work Schedule This position will have the opportunity for a hybrid (remote and in-office) work location schedule; in-office work will be predominately from Treasury's Tigard office.

Salary Range $191,568-$296,964 annually. For this position there is additional potential of up to 30% of base compensation. This position is eligible for relocation reimbursement.

Job Classification This position is classified as an Investment Officer 3. This position is a management service position.

Required Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in business or finance, or any degree demonstrating the capacity for investment knowledge and skill.

Seven years of investment management experience, including three years of asset management experience.

MBA or similar graduate-level degree, Chartered Financial Analyst or Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation may substitute for two of the seven years' experience requirement.

Desired Attributes

Significant experience in the institutional investment industry with role progression, demonstrating success and increasing responsibility.

CFA and/or CAIA designations.

Experience researching, selecting, and overseeing diversifying strategies investment managers across long/short, relative value, event driven, and directional strategies.

Experience with diversifying strategies portfolio construction and risk management.

Experience with investment programs such as eVestment, Factset, Bloomberg, Albourne Castle, and sophisticated Excel spreadsheets.

Experience writing manager due diligence reports and presenting to committees or other large groups.

Ability and willingness to travel nationally and occasionally internationally, to conduct meetings with investment managers and attend industry conferences.
