Responsibilities Work hands‑on with communities throughout Alaska to help them thrive by supporting:
Local elections and financial management
Emergency response and utility services
Safe drinking water provision
Alaska Statute Title 29 compliance
Key Qualifications
Understanding the unique challenges and strengths of rural communities.
Ability to meet people where they are and offer real support that makes a difference.
Experience leading workshops or training sessions for adults, face‑to‑face or remote via Zoom or MS Teams.
Confidence explaining rules, policies, or regulations clearly to community members, coworkers, or government folks.
Hands‑on experience with accounting software (QuickBooks or Quicken) and interpretation of budgets or financial statements in a government or nonprofit setting.
Minimum Qualifications
Administration and Management: Knowledge of planning, coordination, and execution of business functions.
Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving: Uses a logical, systematic approach to address problems or opportunities.
Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information effectively to individuals or groups.
Public Service Motivation: Shows a commitment to serve the public and aligns actions with public interests.
Reading Comprehension: Understands and interprets written material, including technical material and rules.

Local Government Specialist 2 (range 15) biweekly salary: $3,206.25
Local Government Specialist 3 (range 17) biweekly salary: $3,687.75
Interview Process Interviews may be conducted in person or via Zoom and will include a written exercise scored up to 20 points: 5 points for following instructions, 5 points for written skills, 5 points for editing/proofreading skills, and 5 points for content.
Required Information
Cover letter detailing experience teaching adults and/or writing or proofreading technical documents, municipal or tribal documents, or financial documents.
Three references with current contact information – two former supervisors.
Last three performance evaluations if available.
