Senior Linux Engineer – Oracle VM & Containerization

Key Responsibilities
Linux Infrastructure & Virtualization:
Architect, deploy, configure, maintain, and upgrade Linux systems (Oracle Linux, RHEL, CentOS) across enterprise environments
Execute advanced kernel tuning, patch management, package deployments, and security hardening at scale
Manage logical volume management (LVM), file systems, bootloaders, and maintain baseline system templates for automated provisioning
Oracle VM (OVM) Management:
Administer Oracle VM Manager/Server and associated storage repositories
Perform virtual machine and template lifecycle management: deploy, clone, migrate, and decommission resources
Architect, monitor, and optimize performance for OVM clusters, storage pools, and networking - Plan and execute infrastructure upgrades, platform migrations (incl. OVM/KVM), and disaster recovery testing
Ensure robust high-availability and DR configurations are implemented and validated
Performance, Monitoring & Troubleshooting:
Implement comprehensive monitoring and alerting solutions (e.g., 24x7, Zabbix, Nagios, Oracle Enterprise Manager, custom scripts)
Conduct system performance tuning, capacity planning, and root cause analysis for critical incidents
Document corrective actions and provide SME support for complex Linux and OVM issues
Security, Compliance & Risk Management:
Enforce Linux/OVM security standards, conduct vulnerability assessments, and drive remediation efforts
Manage SSH key controls, role-based access, secure baselines, and contribute to audits and compliance initiatives
Architecture, Documentation & Process:
Design and document infrastructure architecture, SOPs, diagrams, and disaster recovery runbooks
Establish and maintain technical standards, policies, procedures, and change management practices
Lead or contribute to business continuity planning and infrastructure lifecycle management
Collaboration, Leadership & Continuous Improvement:
Partner cross-functionally with application, DBA, networking, storage, cloud, and security teams to deliver integrated solutions
Mentor peers and junior engineers, provide technical guidance, and champion operational excellence through automation and standardization
Participate in capacity reviews, vendor selections, and procurement decisions
Promote a collaborative and service-oriented culture within Infrastructure
Oracle VM (OVM) Support
Design, configure, and maintain Oracle VM (OVM) virtualization environments for critical workloads.
Manage Oracle VM Server pools, networking, storage repositories, and guest VM lifecycles.
Optimize performance, availability, and capacity planning of OVM environments.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex OVM issues, including
Containerization & DevOps (Docker Focus):
Design, implement, and manage Docker container environments to support application deployment and scaling
Integrate container solutions with Linux and virtualization infrastructure, supporting CI/CD pipelines and DevOps best practices
Optimize security, resource utilization, and orchestration for containerized workloads
Troubleshoot container issues and collaborate with DevOps, development, and cloud teams to enable seamless application delivery
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
7+ years Linux administration (enterprise)
7+ years hands‑on Oracle VM (OVM) infrastructure management (Manager/Server)
Strong knowledge of SAN/NAS storage, multipathing, network protocols (VLANs, bonding), and hardware (HP, Dell, Cisco UCS)
Proficiency in scripting (Bash, Python, Perl) and configuration management (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
Demonstrated success with high‑availability, clustering, load balancing, and failover strategies
Proven capabilities in performance troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and documentation
