The successful candidate will join a clinical radiation oncology program that has existed since the College first opened in the mid-1980’s. There is institutional support for a team that includes three ACVR-RO board-certified faculty. Due to recent personnel changes, there is now one vacancy, allowing for an incredible opportunity to join the team and help re-envision the service. The department handles a busy and diverse caseload with residents, support staff, and collaborators in medical physics and dosimetry. The radiation oncology service is located at the Randall B. Terry Jr. Companion Animal Veterinary Medical Center in Raleigh, NC, equipped with modern imaging and treatment capabilities (CT, MRI, Eclipse/Aria v18, VMAT, IMRT, IGRT, stereotactic radiotherapy). The center is a major referral hub serving the Southeast. Philanthropist Randall B. Terry, Jr. envisioned a state-of-the-art veterinary medical center focused on compassionate care and medical innovation. The Terry Center is one of the nation’s largest veterinary hospitals, treating over 20,000 patients annually. Our mission is to provide excellent and compassionate medical care, advance the veterinary profession through research and education, and prepare the next generation of veterinarians. The candidate may choose between a TENURE TRACK or PROFESSIONAL/CLINICAL TRACK position, with rank and tenure status determined by experience. Both tracks share responsibilities in clinical case management, high-quality clinical teaching, research productivity (external funding and peer-reviewed publications), and service on college and departmental committees. Differences: Professional/Clinical track emphasizes clinical duties (approximately 34 weeks) with limited research (5-10%). Tenure track emphasizes development/steering of an independent research program (clinical, translational, and/or basic research). There are numerous collaborative opportunities with NC State’s Comparative Medicine Institute and nearby institutions (UNC Chapel Hill, Duke, Wake Forest). Faculty may become eligible for associate membership in NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers. The team actively participates in clinical trials with support from the Clinical Studies Core.
