The Department of Political Science at North Carolina State University invites applications for a tenure-track position in political behavior to be filled at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2026.
We are particularly interested in candidates whose area of specialization is race and ethnicity politics but will also consider candidates with primary interests in other identity and social groups, voting behavior, public opinion, political psychology, media politics, campaigns and elections, or other subject matter related to the sub-field of political behavior.
We welcome scholars who approach these topics from American, comparative, or international perspectives. Those with relevant expertise will have the opportunity to teach in the Master of International Studies program.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate that they will have defended their dissertation by their start date.
The successful candidate will maintain a robust research agenda, teach two courses per semester, contribute to student mentoring, and actively participate in service to the university and profession.
Perform other duties as assigned by the department head.

Minimum Education and Experience
Applicants must have a PhD in Political Science or a related field.
Other Required Qualifications
Demonstrated evidence of teaching excellence, strong research and publication skills, and future research productivity.
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching experience at the university level and demonstrated evidence of teaching excellence.
Applicants who can thrive in, and help foster, a broad range of research and learning environment are especially encouraged to apply.
Examples of mentorship are welcome as part of the application packet.
