Our client, a highly respected national law firm, is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary for a temp-to-hire opportunity in their Houston office. This position is ideal for a polished, detail-oriented legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys supporting multiple attorneys.
The selected candidate will have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills during the temporary phase, with the strong potential to transition to a permanent position based on performance. This hybrid role offers the perfect balance of flexibility and collaboration, requiring three days per week in-office and front desk coverage once a week.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-level administrative and practice support to multiple attorneys.
- Coordinate workflow with internal teams including billing, calendar, and litigation support.
- Prepare and submit accurate documentation with clear instructions for the Attorney Resource Team.
- Track and verify court and agency deadlines, proactively alerting attorneys.
- Prepare and finalize Tables of Contents (TOCs) and Tables of Authorities (TOAs) using Best Authority.
- Manage e-filings with courts and administrative agencies in accordance with applicable rules.
- Maintain and update litigation matters in Virtual Binder and organize documents in NetDocuments.
- Assist with New Client Matter (NCM) creation and ensure compliance with internal standards.
- Coordinate transcription, document assembly, and printing requests.
- Maintain attorney contact lists in Outlook and InterAction (CRM).
- Provide front desk coverage once per week, supporting administrative and client service needs.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a professional legal environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple attorney workloads and meet strict deadlines.
- Proficiency with Best Authority, Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience with NetDocuments and Forte preferred.
- Strong understanding of legal terminology, court rules, and electronic filing (ECF) procedures.
