Legal Secretary – Houston (Hybrid | Temp-to-Hire

Our client, a highly respected national law firm, is seeking an experienced Legal Secretary for a temp-to-hire opportunity in their Houston office. This position is ideal for a polished, detail-oriented legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys supporting multiple attorneys.

The selected candidate will have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills during the temporary phase, with the strong potential to transition to a permanent position based on performance. This hybrid role offers the perfect balance of flexibility and collaboration, requiring three days per week in-office and front desk coverage once a week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-level administrative and practice support to multiple attorneys.
  • Coordinate workflow with internal teams including billing, calendar, and litigation support.
  • Prepare and submit accurate documentation with clear instructions for the Attorney Resource Team.
  • Track and verify court and agency deadlines, proactively alerting attorneys.
  • Prepare and finalize Tables of Contents (TOCs) and Tables of Authorities (TOAs) using Best Authority.
  • Manage e-filings with courts and administrative agencies in accordance with applicable rules.
  • Maintain and update litigation matters in Virtual Binder and organize documents in NetDocuments.
  • Assist with New Client Matter (NCM) creation and ensure compliance with internal standards.
  • Coordinate transcription, document assembly, and printing requests.
  • Maintain attorney contact lists in Outlook and InterAction (CRM).
  • Provide front desk coverage once per week, supporting administrative and client service needs.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a professional legal environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple attorney workloads and meet strict deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Best Authority, Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Experience with NetDocuments and Forte preferred.
  • Strong understanding of legal terminology, court rules, and electronic filing (ECF) procedures.
