📝 Job Summary:
The American Red Cross is seeking a dedicated Blood Collection Driver to join our lifesaving mission. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for the safe transportation of blood collection equipment and supplies to mobile blood drive locations. You will also support blood collection activities and ensure timely delivery of life‑saving blood donations to processing centers. This position requires a dependable and safety‑focused driver who thrives in a mission‑driven, customer‑facing role. CDL (Commercial Drivers License) is preferred but not mandatory.
🔧 Key Responsibilities:
Safely operate a Red Cross vehicle (non‑CDL or CDL depending on vehicle size) to and from blood collection sites.
Set up and break down blood collection equipment, ensuring proper handling and maintenance.
Assist phlebotomists with donor registration setup and logistics support at mobile blood drive events.
Maintain accurate records of vehicle usage, mileage logs, and transport documents.
Load/unload blood products, medical supplies, and equipment while adhering to proper safety procedures.
Conduct pre‑trip inspections and routine maintenance checks on vehicles.
Represent the American Red Cross professionally to donors, clients, and the public.
Follow all regulatory and organizational safety and hygiene protocols.
Occasionally assist in donor reception, customer service, and event support.
✅ Required Skills and Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Valid drivers license with a good driving record is required.
CDL Class B (or higher) preferred; must be able to obtain DOT Medical Examiners Certificate.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks including pushing, pulling, and bending.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently.
Comfortable interacting with the public and supporting blood donors at mobile drives.
Basic computer and tablet skills for completing forms and driving logs.
📚 Experience:
1+ years of professional driving experience (e.g., delivery, courier, logistics, or similar).
Previous customer service or logistics experience is a strong plus.
Experience working in healthcare, nonprofit, or community service sectors is desirable but not required.
⏰ Working Hours:
Full-Time; Variable Schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Flexibility is essential as shift times vary depending on mobile drive schedules and locations.
Overnight travel may occasionally be required depending on drive location.
