The role is open to GPs who are newlyqualified with less than two years of post-qualification experience.
Main duties of the job
At its core, you will work as a member of the in-house clinical teams and provide a critical roleof delivering appointments and care to the registered list of patients. Although you may nothold a named doctor list, you will manage the patients with a list-holding mentality, offeringcontinuity and case management where needed and appropriate. You will play a key rolewithin this, helping to ensure patients get the right care they need from the right person at theright time. You will manage admin such as blood results and be part of a team to collectivelymanage shared admin alongside other GPs and other staff members. Responsibilities willreflect requirements of the NHS GP Contracts, and as such may be subject to change asservices adapt. This post offers the opportunity for role and career development, especiallywith regards to training and supervision of the wider MDT as the team and service evolves. Provide clinical consultations which may be virtual or face to face Be competent in managing common conditions Refer to other Community services and secondary care as appropriate Complete comprehensive notes, request the appropriate investigations and develop amanagement plan with the patient Support the administrative team with clinical and non-clinical queries Participate in regular clinical meetings, clinical governance, audits, quality improvement,training and education.Your work will particularly support continuity of care, safety and quality for complex or urgentcases: You will take responsibility for managing complexity and facilitating continuity of care whereappropriate Informing other GPs about complex cases known to them Display your clinical reasoning clearly in the records To provide the full range of NHS Primary Medical Services to the patients including clinicalexamination, diagnosis, treatment and referral as appropriate. To be personally accountable for professional and ethical actions and practices within alegal and ethical framework that adheres to the GMCs requirements and local policies andprocedures. To ensure that prior to any course of action involving individuals/groups, their informedconsent or other valid authority has been obtained. To ensure that record-keeping is managed through the creation and maintenance ofconcise, contemporaneous computerised records, and that all care is recorded accuratelyand in a timely fashion. Notes should include a Problem READ coded, history, examinationwhere appropriate and a clear management plan. To interpret and explain complex facts in relation to a patients condition, takingappropriate action and giving advice in a professional manner to team members, and whenappropriate to family and other carers, in such a way that protects and preserves thepatients dignity. To have continuing responsibility for Adult and Child Safeguarding in all cases of suspectedor confirmed abuse, and to ensure compliance with local and national guidelines, policiesand procedures. Qualifications
Full Registration with the General Medical Council Membership of a medical defence organisation Relevant Higher Degree e.g. MD, PhD, MSc or other additional clinical qualifications Experience
Experience of working independently, with a maximum of 2 years experience post MRCGP Experience of working in UK General Practice. Experience of working with diverse and vulnerable groups, including use of interpreters. Experience of clinical triage QOF management Experience of working in Islington/ NCL general practice Experience of working in at scale systems Disclosure and Barring Service Check
