Reworld Midwest Region is hiring an H&S Manager to protect employees, customers and the environment. The position is based in Hodgkins, IL but supports sites in Gary, IN; Portage, IN; and Dolton, IL. Position Description

The Health and Safety Manager plans, develops, coordinates, and executes safety and occupational health programs for personnel, materials, equipment, and working environments. The manager implements the most effective safety plans and training systems, performs internal and external audits, and executes corrective actions to achieve compliance with regulatory requirements. Responsibilities

Manage medical‐related conditions (HAZMat surveillance, respiratory, workers’ comp & off‑duty). Perform critical employee onboarding and orientation duties. Investigate, report, and review findings from near‑miss reports, accident investigations, facility inspections, or environmental testing results. File claims and manage ongoing claims. Interface with Risk Control, Captive Insurance, and all Client/Disposal Partner H&S Representatives. Conduct and coordinate worker training in areas governed by OSHA, DOT, and other governing agencies. Peer review of all safety programs for adequacy, compliance, and improvement opportunity. Provide exceptional hand‑on training around confined space, HAZWOPER, First Aid & CPR, DOT Hazardous Materials, OSHA 10‑hour, and client‑specific programs. Recommend process and product safety features that will reduce employees’ exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards. Perform external auditing (disposal partner and client services) and internal auditing (field projects, truck terminals, wastewater treatment facilities). Engage SPCC and other forms of emergency response. Maintain membership affiliation and ongoing trainer education. Co‑administer E Logs, fleet technologies, and database systems. Expand upon occupational clinic relationship and service profiling. Execute integration duties per new business unit acquisition. Ensure corporate programs and procedures are understood and implemented at each facility, including NetSuite review and reporting, RCA for significant environmental events, and industrial hygiene monitoring and chemical characterization. Collaborate with the Director of Environmental and Manager of Transportation to prepare training materials, coordinate weekly and monthly safety themes, complete incident reports, and generate monthly statistics. Attend and teach training courses in the field for all relevant environmental tasks. Verify CES consistently remains up‑to‑date and current with local and federal regulations. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in science (biology, chemistry, environmental science, occupational health, and safety) or engineering (environmental, chemical, mechanical, industrial hygiene, etc.) or 10+ years of experience. Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, ASM, NPPA, DOT regulations, Clean Water Act, and RCRA requirements. 5 years of experience as a safety and/or environmental professional responsible for compliance with OSHA, ANSI, ASME NFPA, and DOT standards. Ability to read and interpret safety and environmental rules, operating and maintenance instructions, Code of Federal Regulations, OSHA regulations, and other standards and procedure manuals. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Excellent statistical and analytical skills. Salary: $105,730.00‑$140,116.00 (good‑faith estimate; final salary will consider experience, ability, and location).
