We are currently seeking a Senior Commissioning Authority in our Salt Lake City, UT office. Your responsibilities will include performing the full range of commissioning (Cx) responsibilities on all building types, including large, complex projects, leading retro‑commissioning and energy assessment projects.
Principal Responsibilities
Manage and support multiple commissioning projects, including client interface, team coordination, schedule and budget management.
Manage a minimum contract value of $500,000.
Perform Cx reviews of construction documents and equipment submittals.
Develop commissioning plans, reports, pre‑functional checklists, and functional performance test procedures.
Assist with functional testing of systems and perform job‑site field observations, write detailed field reports, and lead Cx meetings.
Contribute to improving Cx processes, best practices and technical analysis of building operation (controls, sequences, etc.).
Supervise and mentor less‑experienced employees in a team‑based atmosphere.
Required Skills and Abilities
Strong oral and written communication skills with professional client interaction.
Experienced knowledge of HVAC, electrical system designs and operations; building automation and lighting control systems.
Knowledge of Cx industry standards (ASHRAE, ACG, BCxA) and applicable codes (CEC Title 24, ASHRAE, IECC, IMC, NEC, etc.).
Proficient with MS Office Suite and PDF editors (Bluebeam, Adobe); experience with project management software.
Ability to travel up to 30%.
Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) certification preferred; recognized building commissioning certification desired.
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent required.
7 years of experience minimum in commissioning or MEP consulting; 8 preferred.
Engineer‑In‑Training (EIT) certification preferred; building commissioning certification preferred.
