Nurse Practitioner - UCSF Diabetes Pediatric Program PEDS-ENDOCRINOLOGY Part Time Job Code: 86402BR Job Summary

The UCSF Pediatric Diabetes Program is an interdisciplinary clinical and research practice that serves a diverse patient population. The NP2 contributes to clinical research, clinical projects, and comprehensive pediatric diabetes care, including global health projects. Responsibilities include standard clinic visits every 2-3 months with review of systems, physical examinations, diabetes data review, and insulin or diabetes medication adjustments. Clinical management includes diabetes education in an outpatient pediatric diabetes practice, case management, and periodic review of diabetes data and adjustments of insulin regimens. The NP conducts direct patient assessments and reviews of research subjects’ physical and emotional health, provides initial and ongoing diabetes education and training on diabetes management and devices (including investigational technologies), and answers daily clinical inquiries by phone or email. Responsibilities also include reviewing insulin pump and glucose downloads, adjusting regimens as needed, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team (MDs, NPs, nurses, dietitians, social workers, psychologists, transition coordinators, school nurses, and community liaisons). The NP will join the current CDE pool and share responsibilities including EOD. The NP will conduct group sessions to train patients and families in the use of insulin pumps, continuous glucose monitors, and other diabetes devices and treatments. The NP will support the Type 1 diabetes clinical research team at UCSF, including immunotherapy trials and prevention efforts. Activities include recruiting patients for studies, supporting diabetes management during trials, and optimizing technology use to maintain glycemic control during study participation. The NP will assist in expanding screening for type 1 diabetes risk to identify subjects eligible for prevention trials, including screening events at diabetes walks, camps, and community events. Graduation from a California Board of Registered Nursing-recognized Nurse Practitioner Program with a master’s or doctoral degree aligned with the patient population and clinical role. Master’s degree with relevant diabetes clinical experience and qualifications such as: Critical analysis, problem-solving, and collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team Advanced physical and psychosocial assessment skills for patients and families across developmental levels 1 year of experience with fully automated insulin delivery systems in pediatric patients 5 years of clinical experience in Pediatric Diabetes Experience with early adoption of pump therapy management and education for pediatric patients Current/Active National Board-Certified Pediatric NP license in California Must be a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) or willing to obtain certification within 6 months of employment Preferred Qualifications

5 years of clinical experience in Pediatric Diabetes, plus experience in general endocrinology 1 year of experience with automated insulin delivery systems Flexibility to orient and work at outreach locations Knowledge of insulin pump downloads, continuous glucose monitoring, automated insulin delivery systems Ability to document in real-time within EMR Proficiency with diabetes technology devices and ongoing training, including research devices Licensure/Certification
