Position Summary
Prepares samples for microscopic examination by a pathologist.

Sibley Memorial Hospital, Washington, DC 20001
Schedule
5:30 AM – 2:00 PM; Contract (12/01/2025 – 04/10/2026)

Pay Rate
$40 – $44 per hour
Requirements
Accurately prepares all special biopsy specimens.
Embeds specimens with proper orientation.
Performs microtomy, H&E staining, and coverslipping following established protocol.
Organizes slides, labels, and prepares them for pathologist review.
Follows laboratory safety procedures and all hospital, department, and lab protocols.
Participates in QA/QC preventive maintenance, safety functions, histology laboratory maintenance, inventory controls, special stains, procedures, and projects.
Qualifications
Education:
Associate’s degree in Histotechnology or Bachelor’s degree with at least 60 semester hours including 12 in Biology and Chemistry, plus NAACLS‑accredited training or a clinical histology rotation that grants ASCP eligibility.
Certification:
HT(ASCP) required.
Experience:
Two years as a Histology technician (clinical internship counts as one year) and EPIC experience required.
