We are seeking a skilled Package Test Methods Development Engineer to lead the design, development, and implementation of advanced testing methodologies for packaging solutions. This role ensures product integrity, safety, and performance align with regulatory standards and brand expectations. Key Responsibilities
Develop accelerated consumer‑use test methods to predict package design, safety, and performance robustness based on consumer usage insights. Develop accelerated predictive test methods and simulations that mimic stages of stresses primary and secondary packaging systems encounter during filling, assembly, packout, distribution, retail handling and consumer travel across all channels. Identify emerging/advanced testing instruments and devices such as automated functional testers, imaging, pressure sensors, digital simulators/devices applicable to unlock scientific discovery and root cause analysis of packaging systems, and develop business case justification to integrate it as part of the packaging testing ecosystem. Continue to evolve the relevance of packaging test methods and instrumentation globally to be consumer‑centric. Develop and validate test methods for evaluating packaging performance, including mechanical, environmental, and compatibility assessments. Analyze packaging failures to identify root causes and recommend design or process improvements. Maintain and calibrate testing equipment to ensure accurate, reliable results. Document protocols, procedures, and test reports in compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with lab analysts, packaging development engineers, and the packaging sustainability/innovation team while developing test methods and identifying new/advanced equipment for implementation. Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field. 5+ years of experience in package testing, preferably in the beauty or consumer goods industry. Strong knowledge of packaging materials, design principles, and testing standards (ASTM, ISTA, ISO). Proficiency in using advanced laboratory testing equipment (CT X‑Ray scanner, automated torque meters, haptic/sensorial instruments, robotics) and statistical analysis tools. Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and project management skills. Desired Qualifications
Experience with sustainable packaging initiatives. Familiarity with regulatory compliance in cosmetics and personal care products. What’s In It For You
