Role Details
Reports To: Associate Director R&D Packaging
Location: North America, United States, New Jersey, Summit
Work Location: Hybrid
Role Level: Staff Packaging Engineer, R&D
Key Responsibilities
Authoring and approving specifications, documentation, package line trials and package testing to support product release.
Taking a leadership role with packaging projects and influencing multi-functional teams in a fast‑paced environment.
Pursuing complex technical issues and innovative solutions in product, packages, process, mechanistic understanding and consumer insights.
Thinking and developing future strategies in key focus areas such as sustainability, e‑commerce and package innovation.
Requiring in‑depth knowledge of materials and processes used in construction and manufacturing of OTC and Nutritionals/Dietary Supplements packaging (Extrusion/Injection molding, Flexibles and dispensing systems).
Required Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Engineering or a related Science field is required; Advanced degree is preferred.
At least 6 years of proven experience in OTC, Food, Nutritionals/Dietary Supplements or related industry is required.
Solid understanding of a broad spectrum of packaging materials, structures, components and related conversion processes is required.
Experience in packaging line trials and package testing knowledge is required.
Ability to partner and lead effectively across functions and functional levels is required.
Technical Leadership skills are required.
Supervisory experience and the ability to mentor and train talent within the organization is required.
Experience leading multiple projects and activities at internal or external manufacturing sites is required.
Ability to prioritize multiple constantly evolving priorities with minimal direction is required.
A strong focus on sustainability and eCommerce packaging is required.
Desired Qualifications
Project Management skills are preferred.
Experience with Nutritionals/Dietary Supplements is preferred.
Strong technical writing/documentation skills are preferred.
Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify root causes, draw conclusions, and generate reports that present sound data‑driven conclusions is preferred.
SolidWorks/CAD, Abaqus, or other finite element analysis software tools to perform duties.
Benefits Annual base salary: $127,075 - $179,400. Competitive Benefit Package*
