Finance Manager
We are seeking an experienced and mission-driven
Finance Manager
to oversee the financial operations of our nonprofit organization. The ideal candidate has strong accounting and financial management experience, a solid understanding of nonprofit reporting requirements, and a passion for supporting community impact through sound fiscal stewardship.
Base Pay Range $80,000.00/yr - $90,000.00/yr
Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements, budget vs. actual reports, and cash flow projections.
Maintain the general ledger, chart of accounts, and ensure accurate coding of expenses by program or funding source.
Oversee grants management—track restricted funds, prepare grant budgets, and ensure compliance with reporting requirements.
Prepare and present financial reports to the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Finance Committee.
Support the annual audit process and Form 990 filing with external auditors.
Lead the annual budgeting process in coordination with leadership and program managers.
Monitor financial performance and provide analysis to support strategic decision-making.
Develop financial forecasts and identify opportunities for cost efficiency or revenue growth.
Oversee payroll processing, employee reimbursements, and related tax filings.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local nonprofit regulations.
Manage vendor contracts, accounts payable/receivable, and banking relationships.
Supervise accounting or bookkeeping staff.
Maintain and enhance financial systems—preferably QuickBooks Online or other nonprofit accounting software.
Implement internal controls and best practices to safeguard assets and ensure accurate reporting.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required; CPA or advanced degree preferred.
5+ years of nonprofit accounting or financial management experience.
Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Excel, and nonprofit fund accounting.
Strong understanding of grant management, restricted/unrestricted funds, and budget tracking.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Collaborative, mission-driven, and detail-oriented.
Preferred Skills
Experience with federal or foundation grant compliance.
Familiarity with donor management systems (e.g., Salesforce, Bloomerang, or similar).
Prior experience preparing materials for Board and Finance Committees.
Ability to translate financial data into actionable insights for non-financial team members.
