Overview Systems Engineer - Platform

at Synertex LLC. Location: Springfield, VA. Full‑time, on‑site, immediate hire.

Responsibilities

Implement modern IT solutions leveraging cloud‑native technologies.

Architect scalable, secure, highly available cloud infrastructure and migrate legacy systems to modern environments.

Engineer secure, scalable, automated container and orchestration solutions for microservices and cloud‑native applications.

Deploy infrastructure‑as‑code and automation pipelines for repeatable container deployments.

Capture, analyze, and decompose government, stakeholder, technical, and product requirements and develop formal recommendations for proposed solutions.

Define, design baseline/standard service offerings and develop supporting documentation including integration guides, migration plans, and risk assessment/mitigation plans for new or updated technologies.

Provide technical leadership on container platform adoption, modernization, and migration efforts and serve as SME support for complex issues.

Develop and implement industry best practices through standards, guidelines, processes, and procedures.

Create presentations, review proposals/change requests, and provide recommendations to CIO decision boards, architecture review board, technical review board, and program control board as needed.

Qualifications

5+ years of proven hands‑on experience engineering and implementing cloud solutions (AWS, GCP, Azure) with proficiency in strategy development, networking, security, disaster recovery & business continuity planning, and automation and orchestration.

5+ years of proven hands‑on experience engineering and implementing enterprise‑level container orchestration platform solutions (Kubernetes, OpenShift, EKS, AKS, GKE) with proficiency in cluster management, deployment and automation, monitoring and logging, security, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.

Excellent analytical, technical, communication, planning, presentation, and organizational skills; ability to articulate new ideas and concepts to technical and non‑technical audiences.

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or Software Engineering from an accredited university; OR equivalent experience.

CompTIA Security+ certification.

Active DoD TS/SCI clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a polygraph.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of systems development life cycle methodologies (waterfall, spiral, agile, DevSecOps).

Familiarity with DevSecOps in a hybrid IT organization and collaboration with engineering, operations, cybersecurity, and project management teams.

Kubernetes technical certification (CKA or CKA Developer) and cloud‑native credentials (AWS Solutions Architect, GCP Professional Cloud Architect, or Azure Solutions Architect Associate).

Experience supporting infrastructure in a hybrid cloud environment.

Minimum credential requirements for a Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce (CSWF) position as defined for the IT (Cyberspace) discipline (R&D Specialist Intermediate Level).

Security Clearance & Certification

Active DoD TS/SCI clearance required.

Polygraph clearance required.

CompTIA Security+ certification required.
