Department Summary The Department of Psychology at Bridgewater State University is pleased to announce a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in clinical psychology to start Fall 2026. Our department houses one of the largest undergraduate majors on campus, as well as an MPCAC-accredited Clinical Psychology MA program. We are particularly interested in hiring a Massachusetts-licensed (or license-eligible) psychologist with a specialty in the clinical treatment of children, adolescents, and families (e.g., through teaching, research, and/or clinical experience). Our ideal candidate is interested in contributing to the social justice mission and excellence of our department through their teaching, research, and service. Essential Duties This position involves teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels, including service courses and other courses related to the candidate’s specialization/interests. Graduate-level courses in our Clinical Psychology master’s program could include Child/Adolescent Psychotherapy, Family Therapy, Play Therapy, and other courses in candidate’s area of specialization; graduate-level courses are scheduled in late afternoon to early evenings. Other responsibilities include mentoring clinical interns and/or students completing fieldwork (counted as part of teaching load), advising graduate and undergraduate students, engaging in scholarly activity, and providing service to the department and university. We particularly welcome applicants who express an interest in program leadership (e.g., graduate fieldwork coordinator, graduate program chair) in the future.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or related field earned on or before August 31, 2026.
Excellent teaching, scholarship, and commitment to shared values of the department and university.
Experience as the primary instructor for at least one psychology course.
Licensed or license-eligible in Massachusetts (must possess a license in MA or at least have the equivalent of one year of supervised postdoctoral training required for licensure in MA).
Preferred Qualifications
Strong commitment to principles of social justice, equal access to education and opportunity, and inclusive teaching practices in public higher education.
Potential for teaching excellence, the ability to work collaboratively, and a commitment to master’s level graduate coursework.
Interest in contributing to the university’s teaching and social justice missions.
Special Conditions for Eligibility Employment at Bridgewater State University is contingent upon completion of a successful background check. Bridgewater State University is an E-Verify employer.
