Role Summary The
Junior Electrical Engineer
will be working alongside our existing electrical engineers, mechanical engineers and software engineers on medical device development. This role is multi-disciplinary with technical responsibility for our device electrical system, PCBs and wiring diagrams, providing continuous feedback on the development process and accepting feedback as well. It is also expected that some software development for the device will be performed by the Junior Electrical Engineer. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of hardware electrical design and exposure to software development for hardware. We are looking for a team player who views medical device development as a competitive advantage.
Responsibilities
Designing system level schematics, electrical isolation strategy, as well as detailed PCB schematics and layout
Designing precision motion stages and components, electromechanical system parts and assemblies in a CAD environment
Developing low-level device control software in C++ with guidance
Documentation, including schematics, wire harness drawings, PCB files, and component specifications for FDA processes
Modeling and developing electrical systems throughout the device, such as, stepper and DC motor control, AC power systems, low voltage data, and high sensitivity analog and digital signals
Designing and prototyping analog and digital circuits, primarily for integration of sensors
Building cable harnesses, designing signal and power distribution networks
Building prototypes and test fixtures including instrumenting with data acquisition systems and programming
Unit and system testing of prototype designs
Bachelor's degree or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
2+ years of experience working in the field of electrical engineering
Exposure to software/firmware programming in C++
Competency in designing large electromechanical system components
Analytical problem solution skills, such as modeling and simulations
Design of high sensitivity analog and data systems
Design of power conditioning due to motors and high inrush current components
Design experience with embedded hardware such as Microcontrollers and FPGAs
Knowledge of IEC safety and EMC standards and experience in working with regulated test labs
Involvement in automation-related extracurricular activities, such as, First Robotics
Lab bench experience including, soldering, wiring, troubleshooting, and using lab equipment to explain results
Experience in working with Linux systems and micro processors
Familiar with PCB design tools. Altium Preferred
Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Time management skills to prioritize and meet deadlines
Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
Flexibility to work in a changing and fast paced environment
Drive, determination and ability to hit aggressive milestones/deadlines
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
