Associate Director of Risk Operations

to support and strengthen our counterparty risk oversight program. Reporting to the Director of Operational Risk, this key role will be responsible for monitoring mortgage lender performance, conducting risk reviews, and partnering across departments to ensure well-managed, trusted customer relationships. This is a customer-facing role ideal for mortgage risk professionals who excel at relationship management, process improvement, and data-driven risk analysis. The Associate Director will collaborate closely with Anza’s Sales Management team to develop and communicate customer risk strategies. Risk Operations leads counterparty risk reviews, manages related communications, and delivers clear, actionable feedback to customers and internal stakeholders. What You'll Do: Lender Performance Monitoring: Continuously evaluate lender performance, trends, and exceptions to identify emerging risks or operational weaknesses. Risk Reporting & Analytics: Develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards and reports that measure counterparty quality, performance, and adherence to risk standards. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Sales, Operations, Credit Policy, and Customer Success to address lender performance issues and align on strategic priorities. Audit & Regulatory Support: Assist in preparing materials and responses for audits and reviews conducted by Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and other oversight bodies. Customer Engagement: Lead and participate in discussions with lender partners to communicate risk expectations, findings, and remediation plans. Program Improvement: Contribute to the refinement of Anza’s counterparty risk framework, metrics, and procedures to enhance operational excellence. What You’ll Bring: 8–10 years of experience in risk operations or risk management within the mortgage industry, mortgage insurance, banking, financial services, or secondary-market lending. Familiarity with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac guidelines, loan manufacturing processes, and third-party risk management. Strong analytical and communication skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and influence decisions. A proactive, adaptable mindset suited for a startup environment where processes are evolving and you’ll play a role in shaping them. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field; experience in mortgage operations or credit risk strongly preferred.
