While some roles are based at one of our office locations, remote roles can sit in any of the following states: AL, AZ, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, MI, MN, MO, NC, NE, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA and WV. Remote status and role locations are subject to change. Relocation is not provided. Employees within a 90-minute radius of our Oak Brook, IL headquarters are required to adhere to the company in-office work guidelines of 4 days per month minimum from 10 am to 2 pm (1 of the 4 days must be a Monday or Friday).

Job Summary & Responsibilities

The Sr. Manager, Software Engineering will report to the Director, Software Engineering in the Technology Department. This role is responsible for managing and supporting the people, projects, resources, applications, development, and delivery related to the effective implementation of application solutions spanning all business and administrative areas.

This role will serve as the primary liaison between Technology and its client base by being the advocate to ensure that the provided services are at an exceptional standard. In addition, the role will be responsible for the identification and analysis (i.e. solutions alignment, cost justification/ROI, approvals, and initial staffing/ resource requirements) of any business opportunities which require or could leverage Technology integration or development.

Sustain knowledge and experience in Technology delivery to the supported client areas.

Align, formulate, validate, link, and implement 3–5-year plan for area of responsibility with total Technology and corporate vision.

Primary oversight and management of projects related to development initiatives.

Directly manage multiple concurrent projects, both simple and extremely complex

Ensure that the relevant governance and control processes are invoked and reflected for projects.

Define and establish benchmarks and quality measures for area of responsibility.

Participate in disaster recovery and contingency planning.

Ensure that Information Security Technology controls and processes are followed, architected, and tested throughout the entire lifecycle of development.

Effectively manage relevant 3rd party vendor relationships, while demonstrating excellent vendor management skills

Support and participate in the overall IT Governance structure, with specific emphasis on data architecture, application architecture, services integration, and quality/testing management.

Drive knowledge, component and service sharing into the team.

Focus on the implementation of cost-effective, extensible, and supportable solutions (whether 3rd party or bespoke)

Improve the stability and resiliency of all relevant production processes, as well as, instituting a robust support model addressing process/application failures.

Provide mentorship to the entire organization in application development and integration, ensuring that the material is properly tailored to the context of the recipient audience.

Institute a strong culture of collaboration, responsibility, learning and mentorship.

Work with internal sales and external clients to assess scalable process and data integration solutions.

Be an exceptional liaison with the business on potential initiatives and solution patterns.

Preferred Qualifications

Years of Experience:

7-10 years of experience

1-3 years of leadership experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field

Certification: N/A

Skills & Abilities:

Excellent analytical skills with a proactive nature

Strong organization skills with a drive to meet deadlines

An affinity for accuracy and efficiency

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word (including mail merge) and Outlook

Strong verbal and written communication skills

An aptitude for prioritization and multi-tasking

Strong collaboration skills

A drive to learn and apply new concepts quickly

Experience with Salesforce CRM preferred

Pay Range

$133,000-$160,000 per year

Compensation & Benefits

The compensation for this position will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive and bonus opportunities.
