Cardiac Surgeon, Open Rank Clinical Faculty The University of Virginia Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery invites applications for a full-time, open-rank clinical cardiac faculty position. Academic rank and track (tenure or non-tenure) will be determined based on qualifications and experience.

We are seeking a technically skilled and academically engaged surgeon to join a collaborative, multidisciplinary heart team. The ideal candidate will be competent in a broad array of advanced cardiac operations, including complex coronary revascularization, structural valve interventions, aortic surgery, cardiac transplantation and mechanical circulatory support. Expertise in robotic or other minimally invasive approaches would be especially favorable.

UVA is a major regional and national referral center with a strong tradition of cross‑disciplinary collaboration. Several system‑wide growth initiatives are underway, including expansion of cardiovascular services, investment in surgical innovation and strategic faculty recruitment.

Qualifications

MD and board‑certified in Thoracic Surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery

Licensed or eligible to be licensed to practice in Virginia

Demonstrated strong leadership, teamwork, and communication skills

Advanced knowledge and experience in cardiac surgery

Strong interest in academic medicine

Passion for innovation in the field of cardiothoracic surgery
