CRNA (Anesthesiology & Critical Care Medicine) We are seeking a CRNA. This position reports jointly to the Clinical Lead CRNA and the Division Chief of Nurse Anesthesia (Chief CRNA). Primary clinical responsibilities are the administration of anesthetics and the monitoring of patients while under anesthesia.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Independently research new procedures, diseases, medications, and equipment.

Operate within safe parameters for quality patient care and seek assistance from the attending anesthesiologist when appropriate.

Apply knowledge of pre‑op, intra‑op, and post‑op in both normal and emergency conditions.

Demonstrate technical competence and employ dexterity when performing anesthetic procedures.

Understand all anesthetic equipment used in the JHH OR, use items to full advantage, and handle equipment carefully. Set up all necessary equipment for a successful anesthetic course.

Perform and document timely pre‑anesthesia assessments, review medical and anesthesia history, conduct focused physical examination, plan anesthesia care, obtain informed consent, and consult with the attending anesthesiologist.

Select, apply, and insert monitoring devices; administer anesthesia, sedation, adjuncts, and fluids; manage airway and pulmonary status; maintain effective communication with intra‑operative personnel; facilitate emergence, recovery, and transport to the recovery area.

Implement acute and chronic pain management, perform and document post‑anesthesia evaluation and discharges, provide a complete report of the anesthetic course, and facilitate room turnover.

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of a nurse anesthesia program approved by the MD Board of Nursing. If program was completed after 1/1/08, a Master’s Degree is required.

Current MD State RN and CRNA license required. Current CPR certification, ACLS required. Credentialing prior to start date required.

Additional education may substitute for required experience, and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond a high school diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
