Senior Media Relations Manager
ICF Next is an award‑winning agency committed to making a positive change in the world. We are seeking a Senior Media Relations Manager to lead media relations and strategic communications activities for federal agency clients.
Key Responsibilities
Lead media relations and strategic communications initiatives for a wide range of federal agencies in sectors such as public health, trade, national security, and more.
Serve as an advisor to senior federal officials and strategist to federal public affairs specialists.
Collaborate with colleagues across accounts to integrate media relations with social media, paid media, creative services, and owned media.
Manage junior staff or mentor junior staff on particular accounts.
Stay apprised of industry trends and advise clients on AI and other innovations.
Serve as a key team member on ICF Next’s Media Relations Practice.
Basic Qualifications
Ability to secure a public trust security clearance.
BS/BA in Marketing, PR, communications, or related field.
Minimum ten years of demonstrated experience managing public relations, media relations, or communications staff; leading media‑focused campaigns and initiatives; serving as a trusted advisor; and applying innovative techniques to generate news coverage.
Knowledge of public relations, public affairs, and integrated communications.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Excellent oral communication skills.
Ability to predict and mitigate problems or conflicts.
Strong organizational abilities and logistics skills.
PR agency, journalism, corporate, or government agency experience preferred.
Self‑starter with independent task management and multiple priority handling.
Job Location This position is located in ICF’s Reston, VA or Rockville, MD office in a hybrid telework arrangement; telework outside the National Capitol Region will be considered.
