Position Title Senior Project Engineer
Location Alsip, IL (onsite)
Compensation $100,000-140,000 per year (salary only)
Responsibilities
Lead and manage engineering projects from concept to completion, including project scope, deliverables, schedules, and budgets.
Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets, track spending, and provide accurate forecasts.
Identify staffing needs and coordinate with department managers.
Oversee design, documentation, and bid package preparation.
Assign tasks to team members, oversee project personnel, and manage technical work.
Review designs for compliance with standards and customer requirements.
Coordinate technical activities across departments to resolve engineering design and testing challenges.
Approve design changes and technical documentation.
Prepare and present project status and final reports, and provide updates to project team, leadership, and stakeholders.
Qualifications
5-8 years of related experience, ideally in the food industry.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering.
Experience managing complex capital projects in a manufacturing or food industry setting.
Excellent problem‑solving, decision‑making, and prioritization skills.
Effective communication with cross‑functional teams, contractors, and stakeholders.
Innovative thinking for equipment, processes, and project execution.
Willingness to work onsite in Alsip, IL and travel up to 10% to other plants or vendor sites.
Desired Experience
Experience with air handling, dust control, raw material and final product handling, warehousing, electrical power and controls, flooring, conveyors, fire protection, bar coding/labeling, utilities, packaging equipment, structural issues, lighting, HVAC, mixing equipment, metal detection, check weighing, plant renovation.
Experience managing projects ranging from $10,000 to $1 million in scope.
Experience working with a plant budget for $40,000 to $1.8 million in scope.
Strong background in contractor management and technical integration.
Familiarity with PLC systems and automation in manufacturing environments.
