Scientist I – Assay Development
Highly motivated scientist needed to support assay development of on‑market oncology and genetics products and potential companion diagnostic assays in the Oncology and Genetics area.
Responsibilities
Conduct laboratory experiments under close supervision following safety guidelines, experiment protocols, and RMD guidance documents.
Document experimental details in eLN and design history files; troubleshoot experimental issues as needed.
Analyze experimental data using statistical tools (e.g., JMP) and follow protocols for data analysis.
Communicate results to supervisors and present findings at group meetings; write lab reports in eLN and DHFs.
Participate in routine laboratory maintenance, safety, ISO, and QSR implementation; track laboratory inventory.
Apply basic understanding of molecular, microbiology, and biochemical concepts (e.g., PCR, sterile technique) and familiarity with assay platforms.
Contribute to project timelines and actively support completion of project goals.
Demonstrate Roche cultural beliefs, growth mindset, and own career development.
Qualifications
0 – 5 years of experience in assay development or a related scientific field.
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
Soft skills: strong critical thinking and problem solving, meticulous attention to detail, effective communication, interpersonal skills, good organizational skills, self‑motivated, able to manage time effectively and work independently in a fast‑paced, timeline‑driven environment.
Hard skills: expertise in DNA/RNA isolation, proficiency in PCR, qPCR, and digital PCR; strong proficiency in data analysis using statistical tools (e.g., JMP).
Contract and Compensation Contract length: 1 year (full‑time, onsite). Base pay range: $35.00/hr – $50.00/hr.
Location Onsite (Hybrid/remote options available).
