Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (Computed Tomography) Join the VA NORCAL Health Care System in the Diagnostic Imaging Service at the Martinez, CA VA. The Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (Computed Tomography) performs computerized tomography of the head, neck, spine, chest, and body using contrast materials to conduct diagnostic studies and provide proper diagnosis and treatment.

Responsibilities:

Schedules exams to optimize scanner times while remaining flexible for emergency cases.

Confers with radiologists to determine the requirement of non‑standard exams and determine technical factors and positioning.

Performs CT angiography, including run‑offs and pulmonary embolus studies, and CT biopsies using sterile techniques.

Prepares contrast materials, performs quality control on the CT scanner, records daily contrast warmer temperatures, and checks the crash cart at shift start.

Performs reconstructions of CT studies when requested and maintains patient records and image identification.

Explains exams to competent patients so they understand the procedure and any adverse reactions.

Stocks and inventories all CT supplies and reports equipment malfunctions promptly.

Performs irregular‑hour emergency scans on‑call when necessary with a 45‑minute response time.

Reviews new developments in computerized tomography and continually improves exam quality.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm (Supervisor’s discretion).

Basic Requirements:

U.S. citizen; must pass background/security investigation, pre‑employment physical, drug screen, and influenza vaccination program.

Advanced ARRT certification in Computed Tomography; general radiologic technology certification by ARRT (R); 24‑month accredited diagnostic radiologic technology program or equivalent.

Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Experience equivalent to GS‑9 in direct clinical competency for Computerized Tomography.

Must meet select VA qualifications, including educational and experiential criteria.
