Clayton Services is searching for a
Junior Process Engineer
to join a thriving company in Houston, Texas. The
Junior Process Engineer
will assist with engineering and technology development activities, supporting CO2 conversion/utilization, hydrogen, syngas, and chemical processes. This role will contribute to R&D, process design, pilot plant operations, and cross-department collaboration.
Compensation Base pay range: $90,000.00/yr – $110,000.00/yr.
Job Type Direct Hire.
Responsibilities
Assist in developing and improving CO2 utilization, hydrogen, syngas, and catalytic processes.
Support engineering and technology development projects across North America and globally.
Help manage R&D reactor pilot plant run plans and analyze pilot plant data.
Contribute to process design, heat and material balances, P&IDs, PFDs, separations, and catalytic reactions.
Oversee process modeling using Aspen Plus, HYSYS, or similar simulation tools.
Prepare and review Design Basis Memorandums, data sheets, and process documentation.
Participate in process control philosophy, safety system, and control designs.
Coordinate with third-party EPC engineering teams and internal departments.
Conduct feasibility studies related to technology development.
Provide commissioning, startup, and operational support for process plants.
Represent technology at technical meetings and industry discussions.
Travel to project sites, clients, and facilities (approximately 30%, including international).
Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Abilities
Strong understanding of chemical process simulation models, heat/material balances, PFDs, and P&IDs.
Excellent problem-solving and logical reasoning abilities.
Strong communication and technical writing skills; ability to analyze and interpret scientific and technical documents.
Proficiency in Aspen Plus, HYSYS, Pro II, MS Office Suite, and related technical software.
Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external contractors.
Education & Experience
Bachelor of Science (BS) or higher in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in engineering, process development, plant operations, or R&D.
Experience in refining, petrochemicals, gas processing, hydrogen, syngas, or industrial gases strongly preferred.
Professional Engineering (PE) certification in Texas or other states is a plus.
