Senior Director of Business Applications
Job Objective:
The Senior Director of Business Applications will lead the strategy, development, and optimization of enterprise business systems across the organization. This role is responsible for ensuring that business applications—such as ERP, CRM, HRIS, and other core platforms—effectively support operational efficiency, scalability, and innovation. This individual will be a visionary leader with a strong technical foundation, a deep understanding of business processes, and a proven track record of delivering enterprise application solutions that drive business value.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and execute a comprehensive roadmap for business applications aligned with organizational goals and digital transformation initiatives
Oversee the lifecycle of enterprise applications, including selection, implementation, integration, upgrades, and retirement
Partner with business leaders across Finance, HR, Operations, and Sales to understand needs, translate requirements, and deliver effective technology solutions
Lead and mentor a team of application managers, analysts, developers, and project managers. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement
Manage relationships with software vendors, consultants, and implementation partners to ensure successful delivery and support
Ensure application environments adhere to security, data governance, and compliance standards
Identify opportunities to streamline business processes, improve user experience, and leverage emerging technologies
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field; MBA and/or other certifications are preferred
10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Proven experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday), CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce), and other business-critical applications.
Strong understanding of business process design, systems integration, and change management.
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Experience managing cross-functional teams and large-scale application projects.
Familiarity with Agile, DevOps, and ITIL practices.
Ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics and drive alignment across functions.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Experience with SAP implementations or migrations is highly desirable.
Excellent organizational skills and experience in organizing and prioritizing project sets based on substance, urgency, and capacity. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Capable of traveling as required up to 30%
Preferred
Experience in a multi-site or global enterprise environment.
Certifications in relevant platforms or methodologies (e.g., PMP, Scrum, Salesforce, SAP).
Ability to influence and drive consensus across diverse stakeholder groups.
Experience with highly acquisitive companies.
Experience with transformation projects and implementing ERP systems, particularly SAP.
