to lead stewardship, donor relations, and volunteer engagement for Johns Hopkins Medicine’s Wilmer Eye Institute, a world leader in eye care and research.
Job Overview The Wilmer Eye Institute (WIE) has pioneered ophthalmology since 1925. As a global leader in blindness prevention, WIE advances medicine through cutting‑edge research, advanced clinical care, and groundbreaking therapies. This role reports directly to the Executive Director of Development for WIE.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with Development Office leaders to design and execute comprehensive stewardship and donor relations strategies aligned with institutional priorities.
Manage programming and personalized donor touchpoints to strengthen relationships, engage, and retain donors, patients, alumni, and grateful patients.
Develop and launch a volunteer recognition program and institution‑level volunteer events that elevate volunteer engagement across Johns Hopkins.
Produce high‑quality stewardship deliverables, impact reports, and custom communications in partnership with faculty and administrative leaders.
Drive analytics, identify gaps, and provide data‑based strategies to fundraising and stewardship teams using the CRM.
Lead the creation and implementation of high‑impact donor and volunteer engagement initiatives in collaboration with leaders, fundraisers, and engagement officers.
Build reporting calendars and practices for stewardship, endowment, and impact tracking.
Support volunteer recognition, stewardship events, and donor communication strategy.
Coach faculty on the utilization of endowed funds and donor intent.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree.
Five years of related professional experience in philanthropy, development, or a related field.
Experience with donor stewardship, donor reporting, and donor engagement.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced degree in communications, marketing, nonprofit management, or a related field.
Graphic design, report design, and project management experience or certification.
Experience working directly with donors and volunteers in higher education or a medical center.
