Role Overview The Corporate Controller will be responsible for building and leading the accounting function at The Dropout Companies. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, compliance with tax and audit requirements, and operational excellence across accounting and financial processes. The ideal candidate has deep experience in Food & Beverage or CPG, thrives in fast‑growth environments, and can balance hands‑on execution with establishing scalable systems and controls.

Accounting & Reporting

Own and manage all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll

Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to deliver accurate, timely financial statements

Maintain and enforce accounting policies in accordance with GAAP

Partner with external auditors and tax advisors to manage audits, filings, and compliance requirements

Internal Controls & Compliance

Establish and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations

Oversee compliance with sales tax, income tax, and other reporting requirements across jurisdictions

Implement systems and processes to improve accounting accuracy, efficiency, and scalability

Cash Flow & Working Capital Management

Monitor and manage working capital, including accounts receivable collections, accounts payable, and inventory financing

Support treasury management, bank reporting, and vendor negotiations related to payment terms

Cross‑Functional Partnership

Work closely with operations and supply chain to align purchasing, inventory, and cost of goods sold accounting

Partner with leadership to provide visibility into company performance through accurate reporting and variance analysis

Support trade spend and gross‑to‑net tracking in partnership with finance and sales teams

Systems & Process Improvement

Lead the implementation and optimization of accounting/ERP software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or equivalent)

Identify and automate manual processes to enable scale and efficiency

Requirements

5+ years of progressive finance experience, ideally in Food & Beverage, CPG, or retail distribution in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role

Strong technical accounting background and experience applying U.S. GAAP in a growth‑stage environment

Experience in Food & Beverage, CPG, or retail distribution strongly preferred

Proven success managing month‑end close, audits, tax compliance, and internal controls

Proficiency with accounting and ERP systems (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar)

Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills; comfort with financial reporting and variance analysis

Hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and able to operate effectively in a lean, entrepreneurial environment

CPA preferred but not required
