Quality Manager – Industrial Construction Our independent, employee‑owned firm is adding a Quality Manager to support self‑perform industrial building construction projects across the United States. The manager will develop and implement a contract‑specific Project Quality Plan (PQP), manage quality staff, drive continuous improvement, and lead QA/QC personnel to deliver projects fully compliant with contract documents.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and maintain the contract‑specific PQP.

Approve subcontractor quality plans and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.

Assign, train, and qualify quality staff; provide access to appropriate quality resources.

Oversee the quality assurance program, including nonconformance reporting, issue management, internal audits, and commissioning and turnover activities.

Lead and mentor junior QA/QC personnel to reinforce correct behaviors.

Maintain a collaborative relationship with the client team while reinforcing a construction safety culture.

Interpret quality standards and regulatory requirements; define implementation strategies.

Collaborate closely with district quality management to ensure consistent implementation across the company.

Conduct causal analysis investigations on project‑related issues.

Perform QA audits and assessments on the QMS, PQP, subcontractor plans, and other processes; document findings and implement effective corrective action.

Analyze findings to identify trends that could pose risks; develop and implement mitigation strategies with the project management team.

Promote continuous improvement and timely reporting of all conditions that affect the project.

Provide input from a quality standpoint during operation planning sessions; ensure Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) are developed for all operations.

Ensure all quality documentation required for project turnover is completed, compliant with contractual requirements, and stored in an organized manner.

Present quality goals and objectives at meetings; discuss issues and promote quality initiatives.

Conduct routine performance reviews with all project quality staff.

Qualifications

Four‑year engineering, science, or related college degree with a minimum of 8+ years of quality experience in an EPC or industrial environment; or an associate’s degree with at least 8+ years of quality experience and a minimum of 5 years in an EPC or industrial quality position.

High school graduate or equivalent (GED) with 12+ years of experience in a related construction field and/or engineering, with at least 10+ years in a quality position.

Proficiency in implementing a Quality Management System (QMS) for construction projects; experience with self‑perform construction, preferably for industrial projects.

Self‑starter with organizational, managerial, and leadership skills; ability to manage crews and quality teams.

Strong verbal and technical writing skills; must be able to communicate to large groups of craft personnel, management, and client teams.

ASQ Certified Manager of Quality / Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE) or similar certification is recommended.

Ability to access all points of a construction site in wide‑ranging climates and environments.

Knowledge of construction industry codes, standards, and jurisdictional requirements (ASSHTO, ACI, AWS, ASME, NEC, etc.).
