Job Summary
Business and Data Analyst 2 – a full‑time position in the School of Social Work (SSW) at Arizona State University (ASU), Phoenix Downtown campus. The role focuses on implementing data system requirements and conducting routine data analysis to support data management objectives within the unit.
Salary: $57,900 per year (depends on experience). Position is based on campus; on‑site work required.
Essential Duties
- Develop and manage policies and procedures for the entry, storage, maintenance, and security of personal and demographic data in all corporate systems.
- Partner with functional areas to develop policies, standards, definitions, and conventions governing enterprise and administrative data.
- Implement system administration procedures such as data validation, duplicate resolution, system change requests, and integration/user acceptance testing to ensure ongoing integrity and security of people data.
- Establish definitions, standards, and naming conventions for enterprise administrative data to maintain accuracy and internal consistency.
- Prepare and disseminate reference sources containing pertinent policies, definitions, and other information necessary for the use of administrative data.
- Audit data and report outcomes to functional areas for reinforcement of policies, standards, definitions, and conventions.
- Support applicable systems and databases for access, error resolution, and processes to keep data in sync with inter‑related systems.
- Perform testing of new releases of the application to identify impacts to and across data libraries and/or databases to ensure data integrity.
- Provide support for the internship database and practicum courses—answer tickets, create forms, workflows, assist users with logging in, and support stakeholders entering data into Sonia and placing students.
- Support users internally and externally with the internship database, including logins, issues, forms, and access.
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of database practices, principles, and policies regarding university data.
- Understanding of security permissions and access administration within an enterprise relational database environment.
- Experience developing queries for reporting and analysis; effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Cooperative and effective teamwork across a variety of individuals.
- Good problem‑resolution skills.
- Execute queries within the internship database.
- Attention to detail while maintaining a university perspective.
- Provide quality customer service and student support for stakeholders.
- Understand programs and work closely with stakeholders to create placement groups by program and complete placement groups.
- Create process guides for the team and stakeholders and students on how to access the internship database, complete items, etc.
- Navigate and update the LMS system each semester.
- Knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Canvas.
Working Environment
- Controlled office setting; extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances.
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 25 pounds.
- Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include conflicts.
- Ability to communicate verbally, read, write, see, and hear to perform essential functions.
