About The Role

The Union Janitor position at Warren Sherwood PDC, 2040, plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for both employees and visitors within the Consumer Support Services industry. The janitor will be responsible for routine cleaning tasks, waste management, and minor maintenance duties, ensuring that the workplace remains orderly and operational. Working as part of a unionized team, the janitor will collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to uphold high standards of cleanliness and respond promptly to any facility‑related issues. Ultimately, this position supports the smooth functioning of the center by providing a hygienic and pleasant environment that enhances employee productivity and customer satisfaction.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in janitorial or custodial work preferred but not required.
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Physical capability to perform manual labor including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and supplies, including safe handling procedures.
  • Basic knowledge of facility maintenance and minor repair tasks.
  • Certification in occupational safety or related training.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively coordinate with team members and supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and polishing floors and surfaces throughout the facility.
  • Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in accordance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, and common areas to maintain hygiene standards.
  • Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel promptly.
  • Restock cleaning supplies and ensure all equipment is maintained and stored properly.
  • Follow union guidelines and safety protocols while performing all duties.
  • Assist with setup and cleanup for special events or meetings as needed.

Shift times: 6am - 2:30pm and 3pm - 11:30pm. Need to be able to be on call for both shifts and occasional weekends.
