About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager with a strong background in construction accounting to take ownership of our accounting and business operations. This is a hands‑on, in‑office role based at our Houston headquarters – ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and is looking for long‑term growth opportunities, including promotion to leadership roles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage full‑cycle accounting: A/P, A/R, payroll, job costing, and bank reconciliations.
• Maintain and update financial records in QuickBooks Desktop Contractors Edition (required).
• Oversee construction billing processes, including AIA contracts, WIP schedules, and lien waivers.
• Ensure subcontractor compliance documentation (W‑9s, insurance, etc.) is properly maintained.
• Track budgets, expenses, and project costs accurately and on schedule.
• Support tax filings, audits, and compliance in coordination with external accountants.
• Handle sales and use tax filings and manage 1099 processing at year‑end.
• (Preferred) Integrate and manage financial workflows using Procore Financials and ERP systems.

Qualifications:

• 5–15 years of experience in construction accounting.
• Proficient in QuickBooks Desktop Contractors Edition (required).
• Experience with Procore Financials module and ERP integration (preferred).
• Strong knowledge of WIP schedules, job costing, and construction billing.
• Previous experience with a small‑to‑mid‑size general contractor or subcontractor.
• Excellent attention to detail, reliability, and proactive problem‑solving skills.
• Comfortable working in a small team environment.
