About the Role
We are seeking an experienced
Accounting Manager
with a strong background in construction accounting to take ownership of our accounting and business operations. This is a hands‑on, in‑office role based at our Houston headquarters – ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment and is looking for long‑term growth opportunities, including promotion to leadership roles.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage full‑cycle accounting: A/P, A/R, payroll, job costing, and bank reconciliations.
Maintain and update financial records in QuickBooks Desktop Contractors Edition (required).
Oversee construction billing processes, including AIA contracts, WIP schedules, and lien waivers.
Ensure subcontractor compliance documentation (W‑9s, insurance, etc.) is properly maintained.
Track budgets, expenses, and project costs accurately and on schedule.
Support tax filings, audits, and compliance in coordination with external accountants.
Handle sales and use tax filings and manage 1099 processing at year‑end.
(Preferred) Integrate and manage financial workflows using Procore Financials and ERP systems.
Qualifications:
5–15 years of experience in construction accounting.
Proficient in QuickBooks Desktop Contractors Edition (required).
Experience with Procore Financials module and ERP integration (preferred).
Strong knowledge of WIP schedules, job costing, and construction billing.
Previous experience with a small‑to‑mid‑size general contractor or subcontractor.
Excellent attention to detail, reliability, and proactive problem‑solving skills.
Comfortable working in a small team environment.
Long‑term career mindset.
Travel: Must be willing to commute daily to the office.
