Senior Accounting Specialist
Location: Knoxville, TN

The Finance/Accounting team plays a critical role in supporting strategic decisions, ensuring compliance, and driving operational efficiency. We are looking for a Senior Accounting Specialist who thrives in a tech-enabled environment and is passionate about financial accuracy, automation, and data-driven insights.
Responsibilities
- Month-End Close: Lead the monthly closing cycle including journal entries, reconciliations, variance analysis, and reporting.
- Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of financial data to support decision-making and identify trends or anomalies.
- Claims & Transactions: Maintain and reconcile custom claim accounts, post ACH/wire deposits, and process inbound checks.
- Reporting & Automation: Contribute to reporting improvements and automation initiatives, including Power BI enhancements.
- Compliance & Controls: Ensure adherence to accounting standards and internal controls.
- Cross-Functional Support: Collaborate with internal teams to resolve escalated financial issues and support affiliate invoicing and payments.
- Special Projects: Participate in ad hoc projects to improve accounting processes and support strategic initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred but not required (in lieu of experience).
- 3+ years of experience in accounting.
- Strong understanding of reconciliation processes and GAAP.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with accounting software and ERP systems preferred.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Experience in a software or tech-enabled environment is a plus.
