Support the Military's Quality of Life programs! The Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) department of Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) provides fitness, recreation, lodging and food and beverage programs for service members and families.
Duties
- Grill, fry and cook pancakes, burgers, hot dogs, eggs and sausage, turning items as required and ensuring correct cooking temperature.
- Measure and weigh ingredients, prepare salads, desserts, juices and fruit trays.
- Prepare toasted bread, salads, salad dressing and sandwiches.
- Prepare vegetables and fruits for serving according to instructions.
- Place cooked food in serving dishes in steam carts and food trucks.
- Wash and clean kitchen equipment and work area.
- Keep refrigerators, grills, equipment and work area clean.
- Collect money, operate a cash register and prepare necessary documentation for cash funds accountability.
- Assist with inventory taking.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Conditions of employment
- Must be 18 years old or older.
- Work involves light to moderate physical effort such as frequently lifting or moving objects weighing up to 30 pounds and occasionally up to 45 pounds.
- Successful completion of National Agency Background Check required.
- Requires irregular working hours including early shift, late shift, evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Incumbent must have or be able to obtain a Food Handlers Certificate.
Qualifications
- Follow recipes and combine ingredients for salads and other cooked dishes.
- Perform tasks with several steps using judgment in sequential tasks.
- Serve uniform individual portions and avoid distractions when multiple people ask for items at the same time.
- Perform simple arithmetic and read instructions.
- Apply common sanitation procedures to prevent contamination.
- Use simple kitchen equipment and common kitchen utensils.
- Operate bake ovens, holding ovens and pizza makers.
- Relate inventory levels to purchasing requirements and understand food storage and sanitation requirements.
- Operate a cash register.

There is no minimum education requirement for this position.
Additional information
Selectee may be required to complete a one (1) year probationary period.
