Physician-Psychiatrist-Recruitment/Relocation Incentive-EDRP Authorized
A full-time staff psychiatrist position is available in the Tyler Mental Health Team in the VA North Texas Health Care System Mental Health Service (VANTHCS MHS) in Tyler, TX.
EDRP Eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Applicants must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment.
Recruitment Incentive Recruitment/Relocation Incentive authorized for highly qualified individuals. The sign-on bonus is awarded to eligible candidates.

Responsibilities
Provide comprehensive psychiatric medical care (assessment, consultation, treatment) to patients on the Tyler Team; care provided on scheduled and unscheduled basis.
Skill in general outpatient psychiatry, including diagnostic evaluations, pharmacotherapy, and psychotherapy.
Competent in management of individuals with a broad range of clinical problems, including PTSD, mood, anxiety, psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, and psychiatric disorders in the elderly Veteran population.
Serve as a collaborative member of a multidisciplinary mental health team.
May provide clinical supervision for health care professionals such as Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Clinical Pharmacy Specialists.
May be formal collaborating physician for Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship (non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy).
Education: Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Licensure: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia.
Residency Training: Physicians must have completed residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
English Language Proficiency: Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Preferred Experience:
American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) or American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry (AOBNP) board certified or eligible or anticipated eligibility.
Buprenorphine treatment experience.
Physical Requirements The position requires moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds), reaching above shoulder, use of fingers, walking (8 hours), both legs required, near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4, far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other, both eyes required, hearing (aid permitted), and mental and emotional stability.
