Essential Job Duties

Gain comprehensive, hands‑on experience in collegiate sports nutrition within the NC State Athletics Department.

Collaborate with assigned athletic teams, coaching staff, and support personnel to optimize student‑athlete health and performance through evidence‑based nutrition strategies.

Mentored by full‑time Sports Dietitians and prepare for full‑time entry‑level sports dietitian positions upon fellowship completion.

Work within the scope of training and under guidance of the Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Nutrition to provide nutrition and hydration education and resources to student athletes.

Complete a project related to the fellowship under supervision of the mentor.

Other Work/Responsibilities The fellowship includes clinical sports nutrition, nutrition education, food service management, applied performance nutrition, and sports nutrition organization and staffing.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in nutrition or closely related field

RDN credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration

Licensed Dietitian Nutritionist (LDN) credential in the state of North Carolina or LDN

Minimum 2 years of related nutrition experience (preferred)

Preferred

Master’s degree in nutrition, exercise physiology or related field

Experience with NCAA‑compliant meal planning and sport nutrition program development

Work Schedule M-F 8 am-5 pm with nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Compensation Hourly up to $35,000 over an 11‑month period, with possibility of renewal.
