Project I&C Engineer – Arcadis – Detroit, MI Arcadis, the leading global consultancy, is seeking a skilled Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) System Design Engineer to join our Resilience Water team in Detroit, MI. The role supports diverse environmental remediation, industrial, and municipal water and wastewater projects.

Role Description The I&C Systems Design Engineer will lead the design, integration, and testing of SCADA and instrumentation systems for a portfolio of water and wastewater projects. Responsibilities include:

Develop I&C design documents, P&ID integration, SCADA architecture, and control schematics.

Coordinate with process, mechanical and electrical engineering leads to produce construction documentation.

Program PLC logic and configure HMI/SCADA systems across multiple platforms.

Conduct factory and site acceptance testing, field checkout, and system startup.

Provide technical support throughout project execution and mentor junior engineers.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Environmental Engineering or a closely related field.

7+ years of I&C, automation, and SCADA system design and implementation experience in the water/wastewater market.

Professional Engineer license or the ability to obtain a license within 12 months.

Preferred Qualifications

10+ years of experience developing bid and construction documents.

PLC/HMI programming, configuration and startup experience.

Key Skills and Attributes

Autocad and Revit basic knowledge; self‑directed multi‑tasking.

Excellent oral and written communication and teamwork; Microsoft Office proficiency.

Advanced knowledge of instrumentation, controls, SCADA networks, fiber optic and telemetry systems.

Valid driver’s license; willingness to travel (25%).

Benefits and Compensation Competitive salary range: $80,461 – $132,761. Arcadis offers medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid parental leave, tuition reimbursement, and optional wellbeing benefits.
