Job Summary
The Assembly Manager for the Energy Recovery System (ERS) will lead the assembly, servicing, and operational readiness of all high-voltage systems within the Formula 1 Power Unit. This includes the Energy Storage Main Enclosure, housing the battery and control unit (CU-K), the e-motor (MGU-K), and associated high-voltage harnesses and power electronics. The successful candidate will ensure the highest levels of build quality and process control across all ERS systems — from initial development and dyno testing through to race operations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, train, and develop the ERS Assembly team, ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and operational standards.
Oversee all aspects of ERS sub-assembly and assembly, combining a range of electrical and mechanical assembly processes with rigorous in-process and final quality checks.
Manage ERS assembly schedules and configuration control in accordance with build plans and project timelines agreed with Program Management.
Drive continuous improvement in assembly methods, tooling, and process reliability.
Work with the High Voltage Safety Supervisor to ensure compliance with all relevant HV operational safety standards and procedures.
Champion a culture of precision, accountability, and continuous improvement across the assembly team.
Required Qualifications
Degree or advanced technical qualification in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
Proven experience in high-voltage system assembly, ideally in Formula 1, Formula E, or advanced automotive sectors.
Strong background in battery module and high voltage component integration in an ESD controlled, clean-room assembly environment.
Experience with ERP/QMS systems, component tracking and quality documentation.
Demonstrated ability to lead small multidisciplinary teams under tight deadlines in a performance-driven environment.
Exceptional attention to detail and operational discipline, as well as hands-on problem-solving capability.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting virtual environments using Hyper-V or VMware.
Knowledge of Windows Active Directory, Azure AD/Entra, Intune, and multi-factor authentication.
Familiarity with networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VPN, and Wi‑Fi troubleshooting.
Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA).
Experience supporting IT in manufacturing, engineering, motorsports or high‑performance environments.
