Description of Duties Aegis Aerospace is seeking a
Software Engineer
to support our partnership with Lockheed Martin on NASA's Orion program—an advanced crewed spaceflight initiative. The selected candidate will join the
Orion Software Obsolescence Team , helping to build, manage, and maintain the Software Obsolescence Roadmap that supports long-term mission success. This role involves developing software solutions and analytical tools that identify obsolescence risks and deliver cost-avoidance insights to ensure continuity and compliance across Orion's software ecosystem.
The candidate will:
Develop software solutions supporting the Orion Software Obsolescence Roadmap and lifecycle management strategy
Design and implement features for obsolescence tracking, analysis, and cost-avoidance modeling
Work with relational databases to manage software inventory and version histories
Develop and maintain REST APIs and Java-based applications used for analysis and reporting
Support DevOps, IT, and cybersecurity integration to manage and secure critical systems
Collaborate across functional teams to identify End-of-Life and End-of-Support risks for software components
Contribute to planning and documentation for obsolescence mitigation and upgrade cycles
Work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment managing multiple priorities
Communicate technical findings and recommendations clearly to engineering and management stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, with 5–8 years of relevant professional experience (or a Master's degree with 3+ years of experience).
Extensive experience with software development and integration
Knowledge of obsolescence management principles and practices
Experience with relational database development and management
Experience with Java and REST API development
Experience with DevOps, IT, security software, or asset management
Experience collaborating across teams to identify and analyze End-of-Life and End-of-Support software needs
Experience supporting human spaceflight or aerospace programs focused on software systems
Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
Resume Documentation Requirements
Experience with software development and integration
Knowledge or practical experience in obsolescence management
Experience with relational databases, Java, and REST API
Experience in DevOps, IT, or software asset management
Experience collaborating across technical teams on software lifecycle management

Compensation Salary Range: $90,000 – $117,000 annually. Final compensation is based on experience, education, and directly relevant certifications.
