Description of Duties:
Aegis Aerospace is seeking a
Big Data Software Engineer
to support our partnership with Lockheed Martin on NASA's
Orion
program—an advanced crewed spaceflight initiative. The selected candidate will join the
Orion Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) Software Team , developing and maintaining large-scale data management and integration software that ensures mission readiness and test environment reliability.
The candidate will:
Develop and maintain software solutions focused on Big Data management and analysis for Orion's EGSE systems
Design and integrate distributed systems and data pipelines supporting telemetry and ground operations
Apply Java full-stack development and systems integration experience to enhance Orion's ground data systems
Leverage Apache Hadoop or AWS services for data processing, storage, and analytics
Work with relational databases and data models used for spacecraft test operations
Contribute to anomaly investigation, root-cause analysis, and resolution activities
Support lab productivity, including off-hours support as required
Assist users and lab managers with data analysis and reporting
Collaborate within a highly technical, team-oriented environment to meet program goals
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline, with 5–8 years of relevant professional experience (or a master's degree with 3+ years of relevant experience).
Extensive experience in Big Data development and management
Extensive experience in systems integration
Experience with Apache Hadoop and/or AWS data environments
Proficiency with relational databases and associated query languages
Expertise in Java full-stack development
Knowledge of Python and scripting for data handling and automation
Experience with telemetry systems and processing
Proven experience with anomaly investigation and resolution
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to contribute effectively within team-based, long-term mission environments
Desired Qualifications:
Experience supporting NASA or Lockheed Martin Orion programs
Experience with distributed data pipelines or real-time analytics
Familiarity with telemetry data architectures and spacecraft test environments
Knowledge of Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD workflows
Experience supporting government or aerospace contracts
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat
Resume Documentation Requirements:
Experience with Big Data platforms and systems integration
Experience using Apache Hadoop or AWS for data management
Proficiency in Java full-stack development and Python scripting
Work with relational databases and telemetry systems
Experience with anomaly investigation and resolution
Compensation: Salary Range: $90,000 – $117,000 annually. Final compensation is based on experience, education, and directly relevant certifications.
