Assistant/Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine - 2 Positions to be Filled Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine is seeking qualified candidates to join the Department of Primary Care and Clinical Medicine as full‑time Clinical Faculty. Duties Performed In The Usual Course Of The Job

The clinical faculty member will mentor students wishing to practice in primary care or rural/community‑based medicine, assist the Chair in development of clinical content for systems courses and clerkships, participate in scholarship and research, provide quality patient care, and foster collaboration and interdisciplinary learning. Members will teach in systems courses, physical exam course, case‑based learning sessions, clinical clerkships, procedural skills training, OSCE’s, and Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine hands‑on training. Individuals should be comfortable working in preclinical and clinical education, and evaluating curriculum and students through various learning and assessment methods. The members may participate in the SHSU faculty practice in the SHSU Physicians clinic and may be granted part‑time contracts with SHSU or external clinical practices. Consideration will also be given for clinicians who are no longer practicing medicine.

Educational Requirements For The Position

DO or MD degree with successful completion of residency training, current AOA or ABMS board certification or board eligibility, and an unrestricted license to practice in Texas (or eligibility to obtain a Texas license). Preference will be given to primary care physicians with osteopathic manipulative medicine training and experience, though physicians with any specialty will be considered.

Experience Required For The Position

Clinical skills and well‑developed communication skills. A background in medical education is preferred. Those able to teach osteopathic manipulative medicine preferred but not required. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and training.

Other Requirements For The Position

Ability to communicate and work with faculty, medical students, clerkship coordinators, hospital administrators, physician preceptors, and college administration. Excellent written and verbal communication. Demonstrates personal initiative and abilities to deal with a rapidly changing environment. Familiarity with Learning Management Systems and reporting is preferred.
